    silver eagle
  • (SILVER EAGLES) designation for the US Army Aviation Precision Demonstration Team, organized in May 1972 for public display of typical helicopter skillcraft, performed nationwide at air shows, patriotic events, and other fairs.

  • The American Silver Eagle is the official silver bullion coin of the United States. It was first released by the United States Mint on November 24, 1986. It is struck only in the one-troy ounce size which has a nominal face value of one dollar and is guaranteed to contain one troy ounce of 99.

  • (Silver Eagles) modern 1-oz silver bullion coins.

    2011
  • 2011 (MMXI) will be a common year starting on a Saturday. In the Gregorian calendar, it will be the 2011th year of the Common Era, or of Anno Domini; the 11th year of the 3rd millennium and of the 21st century; and the 2nd of the 2010s decade.

    pcgs
  • (PCG) pancreatico-cholangiography; paracervical ganglion; phonocardiogram, phonocardiography; pneumocardiogram; postcentral gyrus; preconditioned conjugate gradient [algorithm]; preventive care group; primate chorionic gonadotropin; pubococcygeus [muscle]

  • The Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) is a third party grading service for grading rare coins.

  • (PCG) acronym for the Provisional Governing Council, which was the temporary government of the new Republic before the ratification of our Constitution in 2005.

    ms70
  • This is for "Mint State" (the grade) and "70" (the numerical designation of that grade). A perfect coin! Even with 5X magnification there are no marks, hairlines or luster breaks in evidence. The luster is vibrant, the strike is razor-sharp, and the eye appeal is the ultimate.

1859-D, "Medium D" $5.00 PCGS MS63

1859-D,

Mintage: 10,366

If I had to venture a guess, I'd say that there are no more than a few dozen individual Dahlonega half eagles graded MS63 or better by PCGS. Nearly all of these are off the market in tightly-held private collections. I am aware of three or four very nice 1859-D half eagles and I believe that there are around ten or so known in Uncirculated. Dahlonega half eagles of this quality were bringing in the $30,000 range a decade ago and while pieces of this caliber are currently somewhat out of favor, I think they represent one of the best values in the entire upper-end coin market.

1839-O $2.50 PCGS MS62

1839-O $2.50 PCGS MS62

Mintage: 17,781

Variety One: high date, wide fraction.

PCGS has graded exactly seven 1839-O quarter eagles in MS62 and I believe that this represents four or five actual coins. The last three MS62 1839-O quarter eagles that have sold at Heritage auctions have brought $17,250, $19,262 and $19,550 respectively and all three were in NGC holders. Trends jumps to $32,500 in MS63 and a properly graded coin in a 63 holder is not currently available.
